After first having work in the cassation practice from 2001, Maurice has specialised in insurance and liability law since 2003. In his practice Maurice concentrates primarily on issues relating to cover, professional and business liability, and fire and technical insurances. In that respect he advises on general insurance law and he reviews cover, and drafts and reviews policy conditions for insurers.
Maurice focuses particularly on financial lines and other financial matters. He, for example, deals not only with professional liability cases for lawyers, bankruptcy trustees and insurance agents but is also specialised in the professional liability issues of pension and financial advisors. What's more he handles fraud-related matters for insurers.
In the field of business liability and fire and technical matters, Maurice is particularly engaged for advice on legal and technically complicated cases and recovery matters. This part of his practice also covers cable and wire incidents and matters related to agricultural, such as policy disputes ensuing from technical problems at agricultural businesses (power supply failures, climate control systems, CHP systems etc.) and the liability of agricultural businesses.
Maurice publishes regularly and is affiliated with the Dutch Journal, Rechtspraak Aansprakelijkheids- en Verzekeringsrecht (RAV) as permanent contributor. In addition thereto he gives talks and lectures regularly.
Maurice completed the Grotius Academy post-graduate programme Enterprise and Liability in 2009. He is a member of various legal and insurance-law-related associations: de Vereniging voor Verzekeringswetenschap (Dutch Association of Insurers), de Vereniging van Personen werkzaam in het Verzekeringsbedrijf, Rotterdam (VPV) (Dutch Association of Persons working in the Insurance Industry, Rotterdam) and the Vereniging voor Aansprakelijkheids- en Schadevergoedingsrecht (Dutch Association of Liability and Compensation Law).
